ROTOMAG

A system for the magnetic separation of very fine particles present in coolant liquids.

Rotomag - Magnetic separators with high performance bar system LOSMA’s ROTOMAG separators use strong permanent magnets which are inserted in and protected by stainless steel tubes. These are very effective in the separation of small magnetic parti- cles from liquid coolants.
The strength of the magnets (measured in Gauss) is defined according to the application for which it is required. The dirty coolant liquid is introduced into the lower part of the tank and runs in a uniform manner through the mag- netic bars, which are positioned close to each other so forming a continuous magnetic field. The clean coolant liquid flows by gravity in the upper part of the ROTOMAG through tubes.
In the upper part of the ROTOMAG is a bar-cleaning unit. The magnetic bars are scraped one by one and the dirt falls into a container below, which empties the separated dirt into a waste container.

Applications
ROTOMAG is intended for the steel industry (cold-milling coolants, cleaning of steel belts, cold-deformation processes or heat pressing), for the mechanical processes industry, removal from grinding machines, honing and polishing of steel, cast iron and sintering of metals

Function
The magnetic bar is brought into the cleaning position; the scraper in an open position enters the first part of the bar (on the axis) and then closes. The scraper is then pulled along the entire length of the bar. At the end of the procedure the scraper opens again, comes back to the first part of the bar and waits for the next bar to position itself for cleaning. The cleaning operation can be made either in one direction or in both of the directions (up and down)

Configuration of ROTOMAG
A standard configuration does not exist for these type of separators. There are two basic models using bars of different lengths. The length and the number of mag- netic bars (and the magnetic strength) are measured according to the application. As well as being used in its own tank, ROTOMAG can be placed into existing tanks (if suitable). In cases of loads with high dirt quantities, ROTOMAG can also be combined with dredge tanks.
